School Board Meeting Recessed Until November 1
The Loudoun County School Board recessed its Tuesday, October 25, meeting until 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 1.
The reconvening of the meeting will follow a School Board Secondary School Attendance Zone Work Session at 6:30 p.m.
There will be no public comment at the November 1 meeting.
Tuesday’s meeting was attended by Chair Jeff Morse (Dulles District), Vice Chair Ian Serotkin (Blue Ridge District), Atoosa Reaser (Algonkian District), Harris Mahedavi (Ashburn District), Andrew Hoyler (Broad Run District), Tom Marshall (Leesburg District) and Brenda Sheridan (Sterling District), who were at the Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) Administrative Offices, 21000 Education Court, Ashburn. Denise Corbo (At-Large) attended remotely. John Beatty (Catoctin District), was absent.
WORK SESSION
Business and Financial Services: Chief Financial Officer Sharon Willoughby presented a Fiscal Year 2024 Budget Update and School Board Prioritization.
ACTION
The School Board Approved: Minutes; Personnel Actions; Finance and Operations Committee: Contract Award for IFB #22-512 Demolition of Old Lucketts Wastewater Treatment Plant; Finance and Operations Committee: Grant of Easement to Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative (NOVEC) at Cardinal Ridge ES; Department of Student Services: Exemption from School Attendance for Religious Reasons; and Department of Student Services: New Student Health Advisory Board (SHAB) Members.

RECOGNITIONS
Virginia Delegates David Reid (32nd District) and Suhas Subramanyam (87th District) presented General Assembly resolutions to the Loudoun County Public Schools New Elementary School Teacher of the Year Caroline Brunetti, of Cedar Lane Elementary School, and Teacher of the Year Jordan Markwood, of Rock Ridge High School.
STUDENT SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS
Gabby Frierson, a senior at Broad Run High School; Alexis Walker, a senior at John Champe High School; and Daniel McIntyre, a senior at Park View High School, were introduced as the new student School Board members.
PLEDGE LEADER
Nellie Beaman, a History 6 teacher at Eagle Ridge Middle School, who was named the Mount Vernon History Teacher of the Year for 2022, led the Pledge of Allegiance.
NATIONAL ANTHEM
The National Anthem was performed by members of the Rock Ridge Chamber Choir, under the direction of Region 4 Teacher of the Year Jordan Markwood. Students performing included Josh Bell, Keerthana Govindarajan, Ananya Karthik, Sneha Khandavalli, Will MacDonald, Annabelle Monte, Maxie Montgomery, Anna Nguyen and Mukhwaak Singh.
