Communications and Community Engagement Wins Five NSPRA Awards

The Communications and Community Engagement Office (CCO) was honored with five awards for video production from the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA).

The team received two Golden Achievement Awards for video series produced in the last year. The “School is…” video series was designed to build enthusiasm for many of the aspects of the school experience that students missed while learning online during the pandemic. The series began with the Superintendent’s announcement of a return to five days of in-person instruction for the 2021-2022 school year. His announcement message featured a number of LCPS students who celebrated aspects of school including friends, pep rallies, sports and fine arts. The social media series that followed it highlighted video clips of specific activities, including marching bands and mascots. Videographer Laura Cruz produced this series.

The Mental Health Alumni Series was the second Golden Achievement winner. It featured prominent LCPS graduates who spoke about their school memories and offered students advice about where and how to access mental health support at their schools. The alumni included two NFL players, a Google engineer, a professional lacrosse player and a ballerina. The mental health series was produced by videographer Michale Ferrara.

An Award of Merit was presented to “Potomac Falls Student Ryan Alam Skydives onto the Football Field.” This video shared a student’s skydive experience with the Army Golden Knights as he checked an item off his bucket list following the diagnosis of an illness. This video was produced by Videographer Laura Cruz.

CCO also received two Honorable Mentions. The first went to the “Class of 2034” video which introduced four kindergarten students from Leesburg Elementary who shared a bit about their school experience. The video has been shared as part of a campaign to remind parents about registering new students for the upcoming school year. This video was produced by Videographer Laura Cruz.

The second Honorable Mention went to “One Team, One Fight” a video that detailed the collaboration of several LCPS departments in opening a COVID vaccination POD so that staff could be vaccinated and return to the classroom safely. This video was produced by Videographer Jeff Riegel.
