Marshall Selected to Fill Leesburg Seat
The Loudoun County School Board selected Tom Marshall to fill its vacant Leesburg District seat at its Tuesday, December 14, meeting at the Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) Administrative Offices in Ashburn.
Marshall was selected on a 7-1 vote. He was immediately sworn in by Loudoun County Circuit Court Clerk Gary Clemens and joined the School Board on the dais. Marshall previously represented the Leesburg District on the School Board from 2007 to 2011 and 2015 to 2019.
The Leesburg seat had been vacant since the resignation of Beth Barts on November 2.
The School Board interviewed 13 candidates (Rene Camp, Todd Cimino-Johnson, Rebecca Clark, Stephen Cypher, Colin Doniger, Andrew Fernandez, Andy Jabbour, Marshall, Erika Ogedebe, Michael Rivera, Lauren Shernoff, Julia Sisson and Frank Spampinato) during hearings on December 6 and 7. A total of 45 speakers addressed the board about the merits of the candidates during the December 6 meeting.
Marshall will represent the Leesburg District through December 31, 2022.
