Simpson Serves Its Community at Back-to-School Event
After a year off, the staff of J. Lupton Simpson Middle School resumed its annual back-to-school picnic event at The Fields apartment complex in Leesburg on Thursday, August 19.
And they brought along a lot of friends.
Loudoun County High School and Evergreen Mill Elementary – schools that feed to and from Simpson – had free- and reduced-price spirit wear for the 500 people who attended the event. (Loudoun County Principal Dr. Michelle Luttrell and Evergreen Mill Principal Daniel Lani were on hand.)
In addition to distributing free food and school supplies, the Loudoun County Health Department and the Medical Reserve Corps set up a free COVID-19 vaccination area.
Officers from the neighboring Leesburg Police Department joined in the fun and Evergreen Mill’s python mascot was on hand for photo ops.
This is the fourth time Simpson has held its back-to-school picnic.
