With those words, Superintendent Scott Ziegler welcomed 350 beginning teachers to Loudoun County Public Schools on Thursday, August 12. Ziegler delivered the opening remarks at the annual Beginning Teacher Institute, which was held virtually this year. 

Ziegler recounted the beginning of his own teaching career, which included 17 years as a teacher before entering administration. This marks Ziegler’s 29th year in education. He told the teachers that, like them, he was a bit nervous about starting a new job. Ziegler officially became the 11th LCPS Superintendent on July 1.

The Beginning Teacher Institute provides three days of professional development for beginning teachers in addition to the regular teacher workdays all teachers have for preparing for the new school year. The Beginning Teacher Institute is coordinated by the Coaching and Mentoring Office in Human Resources and Talent Development (HRTD).
