Sources of Strength Peer Leaders Honored

As the school year comes to an end, LCPS wants to say thank you and congratulations to our graduating seniors who committed their time and energy as peer leaders for the Sources of Strength Program.

Sources of Strength is a mental wellness program designed to surround students with protective factors that build their resilience. The mission of Sources of Strength is to prevent suicide by increasing help seeking behaviors and promoting connections between peers and caring adults.

This year, these 97 seniors participated in Sources of Strength across 16 high schools.

  • Throughout the 2020-2021 school year, 247 Sources of Strength meetings were held and nearly 100 campaigns were completed across 27 secondary schools implementing the program.
    • Those 97 campaigns reached an average of about 1100 people each.
    • Campaign topics included “What Helps Me,” positivity campaigns, introductions to Sources of Strength, healthy activities, generosity, positive friends, mentors, and more!
  • Approximately 150 Sources of Strength advisory lessons were delivered across secondary schools sharing the message of hope, help and strength. On average, each advisory lesson reached at least 75% of the student body.
