School Board Summary for Reconvened Meeting of December 15


The Loudoun County School Board reconvened its December 15 meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, December 17. All School Board members and staff representatives participated electronically from remote locations to comply with Governor Ralph Northam’s Statewide Measures for Containing COVID-19, which limits in-person gatherings to 10 people.

The School Board heard nine information items. The information items included: 

  • Division Counsel: Division Counsel Stephen DeVita presented a Collective Bargaining Update.
  • Equity Committee: School Board Chair Brenda Sheridan (Sterling District) detailed the Proposed Policy 1040 revision based on and an Equity Committee recommendation.
  • Equity Committee: Chair Sheridan also presented a No Name-Calling Proclamation.
  • Business and Financial Services: Assistant Superintendent for Business and Financial Services Sharon Willoughby presented the Health Care Update for Fiscal Year 2022.
  • Business and Financial Services: Mrs. Willoughby also presented the Fiscal Year 2022 Budget Development.
  • Business and Financial Services: Mrs. Willoughby detailed the Fiscal Year 2020 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).
  • Business and Financial Services: Mrs. Willoughby and Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources and Talent Development Dr. Scott Ziegler presented Stipends and Additional Leave Information per School Board Request.
  • Finance and Facilities Committee: School Board member Leslee King (Broad Run District) and Assistant Superintendent for Support Services Kevin Lewis presented Policy 6310, Facilities Use, Review.
  • Western Loudoun Aquatic Center: School Board member Ian Serotkin (Blue Ridge District) spoke about the procedure necessary for the Board of Supervisors to consider this project.
