Mercer Will Be Hovatter’s 1st Principal

 

Lori Mercer will be the first principal of Hovatter Elementary School.

 

The Loudoun County School Board appointed Mercer to her new position at its Tuesday, December 15, meeting. She will begin preparing for the August 2021 opening of the new school on January 21, 2021.

 

Mercer is in her ninth year as the principal of Belmont Station Elementary. She was Belmont Station’s assistant principal for eight years before becoming its principal.

 

Mercer holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a master of science degree in elementary education from Shenandoah University. She earned her endorsement in administration and supervision from the University of Virginia. Mercer has served her entire 27 years in education in Loudoun County Public Schools. She also has served as a teacher at Cool Spring and Little River elementary schools and as an assistant principal at Hutchison Farm Elementary.
