Dear LCPS Families,

The purpose of this communication is to provide information and instructions on how you may obtain an LCPS-issued Chromebook individual learning device for your students. The distribution process has been created with physical distancing guidance in mind. It is important that you follow all staff instructions while at an LCPS facility. 


Obtaining an LCPS device for your student is not a requirement to participate in distance learning. Utilizing a personal computer is an acceptable alternative. District provided devices can be obtained at a later date by following the instructions provided in the FAQ

In preparation for obtaining a device, please review this guide with your student(s) to learn the responsibilities and best practices of caring for the LCPS individual learning device.


To be eligible for a device, you must present a photo ID and know your student ID number(s). Students who already have an LCPS issued device will not be provided with a second device. 


Kindergarten through Third Grade Distributions

LCPS will distribute nearly 25,000 Chromebooks to K-3 students starting in mid-August. LCPS staff will focus on an efficient “curb-side” distribution process in which physical distancing guidelines can be maintained at a large scale. 


You will receive detailed information about your specific school’s distribution date, timelines, and procedures from your school’s administrative leadership team. 


Newly enrolled students

Students who are new to LCPS will pick-up their assigned Chromebooks the week of August 31st at one of the many centralized on-site repair centers available across the district.  The locations of these on-site repair centers will be posted to the LCPS website and pick-up of your student’s chromebook will require an appointment.  


Getting assistance for your computer

Students and parents/guardians are encouraged to reach out to their respective teachers when questions arise with how to use the chromebook or access instructional resources.  


The Department of Digital Innovation (DDI) will continue to provide technical support. Staff members and students can receive technical support through one of the following methods:

  • Email your question to (from your LCPS provided email)
  • Call the Technology Support Center at (571) 252-2112, Monday - Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM
