Special School Board Meeting Friday
The Loudoun County School Board will hold a special meeting and COVID-19 Work Session at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 20, at the LCPS Administrative Offices, 21000 Education Court, Ashburn. The full meeting agenda is available on the LCPS.org website.
The meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 24, has been canceled.
A special note about Friday’s meeting: Due to the Governor’s declaration of a State of Emergency related to COVID-19, the County of Loudoun’s declaration of a State of Emergency, and social distancing requirements per the CDC as of March 16, 2020, the Loudoun County School Board will not be accepting public comment at their meetings and encourages members of the public to view the meeting via live stream.
Action items on the agenda include:
- In light of the state of emergency declared by the Commonwealth and Loudoun County related to COVID-19, an item to suspend any and all School Board policies that would require an opportunity for public comments at the March 20, 2020, school board meeting and subsequent meetings, until such time as these restrictions are lifted.
- An amendment to the FY21 School Board Adopted Operating Budget that will reduce the County appropriation request by $2.5 million.
Information items include:
- Awarding the contract for the construction of Hovatter Elementary School.
- Awarding the contract for the construction of Elaine E. Thompson Elementary School.
- Awarding the contract for entry modifications for Tuscarora High School.
After these items, LCPS staff will brief the School Board on the school division’s preparations and response with regard to COVID-19.
