School Board Summary March 10
The Loudoun County School Board adopted seven action items, heard three information items and greeted new student School Board members at its Tuesday, March 10, 2020, meeting.

In action items, the School Board approved the following items: the transfer of $5 million to potentially accelerate the completion of the 1:1 rollout of Chromebooks in grades 3 through 12; a motion of support for maintaining the School Resource Officer program at the middle and high school level only and directing LCPS staff to work with the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office and Leesburg Police Department on matters of equity, discipline and law enforcement and to notify the county administrator of this effort; proclamations recognizing March 2020 as National Professional Social Work Month and Women’s History Month; a recommendation to endorse the concept of electronic distribution of flyers; an Energy Saving Performance Contract Update for J. Lupton Simpson Middle School; and a resolution encouraging all Loudoun County Residents to promptly and completely respond to the 2020 U.S. Census.
The information items presented to the School Board included:
- Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Services Dr. Asia Jones presented an update on LCPS’ Preparedness Relating to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and Loudoun County Health Department Director Dr. David Goodfriend outlined the Loudoun County Government’s response to COVID-19.
- School Board member Jeff Morse (Dulles District) outlined the 2020-2021 School Calendars for Hillsboro Charter Academy (HCA) and Middleburg Community Charter School (MCCS).
- School Board member Ian Serotkin (Blue Ridge District) began a discussion on school resource officers in elementary schools.
Oliver Olsen, a senior at Loudoun County High School, and Ben Alter, a senior at Woodgrove High School, were introduced as the March student School Board members.
