Mental Health and Wellness Conference January 11th
The 3rd Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) Mental Health and Wellness Conference will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, at Independence High School.
This conference will highlight presentations by mental health professionals and Loudoun County staff.
Conference sessions will provide parents and students information on anxiety, stress, resilience and information about LCPS prevention and education programs.
Three breakout sessions and a screening of the independent film “LIKE” will highlight the day. “LIKE” addresses the impact social media has on student anxiety, physical and mental stress, human connection and depression.
Dr. Edward Spector, one of a handful of clinical psychologists who specializes in the compulsive use of technology, will provide practical ideas for parents to help limit, and decrease, the influence of social media. Spector also will conduct a breakout session – “Healthy Use of Technology” – prior to the screening of “LIKE.”
On-site registration for the event will be from 8 to 8:30 a.m. There will be a breakout session from 8:35 to 9:35 a.m. with the screening of “LIKE” and the following breakout session from 9:40 to 11:25. A third breakout session will be held from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m.
A resource fair with more than 20 local health care providers will be available for participants to gather important information and resources about mental health and wellness services available in Loudoun County. The resource fair closes at 1 p.m.
Online registration is now open at navigatethepath.com. More information about the conference is available at this website or by contacting the LCPS Office of Students Services at 571-252-1012.
