Pinebrook Student Virginia Google Doodle Winner

Ashley Green, a fourth-grader at Pinebrook Elementary, has been named the winner of the Virginia Google for Doodle competition.

Ashley’s doodle, “Lost in Space” will now be voted on nationally. The winner among 53 students from states and American territories will have their work displayed on Google’s main web page.

To vote for Ashley’s doodle, go to Voting ends at midnight Friday.

The nominated doodles were selected from thousands of entries.

The theme for this year’s competition is “When I grow up, I hope…”

Ashley was presented her Virginia prize (a new Chromebook) by Google representatives Shantoya Ward and Laurie Bennett during a full-school assembly on Thursday, May 30th. (Google donated T-shirts to the entire fourth grade. Ashley’s parents came to the assembly to surprise her.)

In addition to their doodle being portrayed on the Google homepage for a day, the national winner will be awarded a $30,000 college scholarship. The winner’s school also will receive a $50,000 tech package.
