Mental Health & Wellness Conference October 13th

The Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) Department of Pupil Services will hold its second annual Mental Health and Wellness Conference from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 13th, at Briar Woods High School.

“Navigating the Path to Student Wellness” is the conference’s theme. This event will offer more than 25 concurrent breakout sessions. Sessions will highlight a variety of mental health topics presented by division, school, community and regional experts that will provide evidence-based strategies that support students and families.

The keynote speaker for the conference is Dr. Jonathan Dalton. His subject topic will be “Anxiety and Our Youth: What to Know and How to Help.” 

Dalton is a licensed psychologist who founded the Center for Anxiety and Behavioral Change (CABC) in Rockville, Md. This is a private treatment center dedicated to using evidence-based treatment for patients with anxiety disorders. Dalton specializes in the treatment of anxiety disorders in children and adolescents with a particular focus on anxiety-based school refusal.

In addition to the Keynote Address, Dalton will be presenting a breakout session, “Anxiety and School Refusal.

A Resource Fair with more than 30 vendors also will be open throughout the Conference, highlighting both LCPS and community organizations. Refreshments will be available for purchase.
