Building a Team at Rosa Lee Carter

The staff of Rosa Lee Carter Elementary School have always prided themselves in undertaking extraordinary staff team building activities each August.

Teachers have bonded through neighborhood scavenger hunts, staff field days and flash mob dances. This year Principal Ann Hines wanted the staff’s experience to be different – one that would positively affect others.

On August 18th, faculty made more than 100 hygiene and food bags for the homeless in Washington, D.C.  Food bags were stuffed with sandwiches, snacks and drinks in addition to hygiene items for those less fortunate. The following day, the Rosa Lee Carter staff traveled to Franklin Square, which is located in the heart of Washington, to serve those that are in need of support.

Due to the tremendous impact of this team-building activity, the Rosa Lee Carter faculty is determined to help those in need on a quarterly basis.

This experience created lasting bonds amongst the faculty, while making deep connections to those less fortunate.
