Parents Guide to JML
GRADE LEVEL HOUSES:
Each grade level has a house where there is a Counselor, a Dean, and a Secretary. They are located in the locker area of each grade level and interact with the children on a daily basis. Please call the house secretaries (numbers listed above) directly for early dismissals, grade level questions and with questions directly related to your child.
ITEMS FORGOTTEN AT HOME:
We ask that you please work with your child to be responsible for remembering to bring everything they need for each school day.
If an item is dropped off in the main school office, we will do our best to ensure your child receives the items needed.
Please contact Vicki Nunan at 703-222-2666 with questions regarding Parent Vue. Ms. Nunan will also be able to assist with Parent Vue log-in questions as well. If no answer, please leave a message.
PARENT DROP OFF/PICK UP OF STUDENTS:
The front and right side parking lot of the school are reserved for buses and should remain free of automobile traffic AT ALL TIMES. Student carpool drop-off/pick-up area is on the left side of the building. Please do not park in the parking lot and ask your child to walk through the lot at drop off or pick up time; use the carpool lane only. Follow all staff instructions to ensure the safety of students /staff. All visitors should park in the parking lot on the left of the building and use the front entrance. Students should not be dropped off before 8:15 a.m.
All visitors MUST enter the school using the front main entrance and then report directly to the main office. ALL visitors must present a valid ID and state the reason for entering the school. Additionally, LCPS has instituted a new security system named Raptor. All visitors to the school that go beyond the main office area will be required to sign in/out using the new system. There are NO EXCEPTIONS to these security procedures.
ALTERNATE BUS AFTER SCHOOL:
Students must have written permission from the parent to ride home on a bus not assigned to them. The note should be dropped off before 8:35 a.m. to their house secretary. Based on bus counts, there may be buses that are restricted from issuing passes.
BUS ISSUES: Discipline issues will be handled directly by the grade level Dean. Please call LCPS Transportation at 571-252-1700 with all bus-related issues (i.e. item left on bus, stop times, etc).
Homework may be requested if your child is sick three or more consecutive days. Please call your child’s house secretary to arrange to pick up of missed assignments. You can also check the teacher’s web page for assignments.
WALKING OR RIDING BICYCLES TO SCHOOL:
