Safe 2 Talk

From Loudoun County Public Schools:

Message Header

Creating a safe environment for students and staff is a primary goal for Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS).

To help achieve this goal, LCPS and the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) have partnered to offer “Safe2Talk,” a free app for students, parents, teachers and residents to anonymously report safety and security concerns in our schools. While we prefer that everyone reports concerns to a trusted LCPS adult or law enforcement officer we understand that some people prefer to remain anonymous. The app allows users to choose the school where an issue is occurring and the type of incident. Drop-down menus allow users to report incidents such as alcohol and drug use, dating violence, weapons, graffiti, hate crimes, physical abuse, reckless driving, suicidal behaviors, an unconscious individual or any other condition that threaten a student’s safety or the safety of others. Providing information through the app assists LCPS Safety and Security personnel, School Resource Officers and investigators in validating information, minimizing the spread of false information and following-up on issues. The app is available through the Apple App Store and Google Play.

Collaboration is the key to keeping our schools safe. The app is just another example of LCPS working with partner agencies at all levels. Earlier this month, representatives of school administration, Safety and Security, LCSO and the Leesburg Police Department held a joint training session to help ensure responders are prepared in the event of an emergency. Additional coordination occurs in the LCPS Security Operations Center (SOC). The SOC is an around-the-clock, seven-day-a-week, 365-day-a-year clearing house and security nerve center. The SOC can be reached at 703-779-8833.

Thank you for your assistance and support as LCPS works to maintain the safety of all students and staff.
