The Loudoun County Public Schools Athletic Training Program spends many hours educating student-athletes, parents coaches, administration and the community about the importance of proper hydration, nutrition and physical activity, not just on the field, but in everyday life. LCPS Athletic Trainers work with Emergency Medical Services, hospitals, orthopedic clinics, general practice physicians, registered dietitians, physical therapists and many other healthcare professionals to ensure the long term health and safety of our student-athletes. Here are just a few ways that we promote healthy lifestyles:
Providing physicals to look for underlying and potentially dangerous medical conditions.
Promoting proper nutrition, hydration.
Educating about proper hygiene.
Discouraging use of anabolic steroids and unsafe dietary supplements.
Meeting with EMS and hospital services annually to review Emergency Action Plans.
