National Spelling Bee

National Spelling Bee

Ananya Balachander, who was the  Eagle Ridge Middle School's spelling bee winner placed third in the Regional Spelling Bee that was held last night. It was an amazing 17 rounds and Ananya once had the opportunity to spell a championship word, but spelled the word 'Alliaeceous' short of an 'l' moving on to then place third out of the 79 participants for Loudoun County.  The National Scripps spelling bee has opened up an opportunity for school bee winners to apply to participate through a lottery system and Ananya is pursuing this route. She will know if she is selected by the end of the month and will keep the school informed.
