LCPS Theatre Productions Debut Tonight


This weekend marks the start of a lot of drama involving Loudoun County Public Schools. Here are some upcoming theatre productions community members might want to check out:  

 

Dominion High School

Radium Girls 

November 17-19 @ 7 p.m.

In 1926, radium was a miracle cure, Madame Curie an international celebrity, and luminous watches the latest rage—until the girls who painted them began to fall ill with a mysterious disease. Inspired by a true story, Radium Girls traces the efforts of Grace Fryer, a dial painter, as she fights for her day in court. As the case goes on, however, Grace finds herself battling not just with the U.S. Radium Corporation, but with her own family and friends, who fear that her campaign for justice will backfire.

 

Independence High School

Alice in Wonderland 

November 18, 19 @ 7 p.m.

November 19 @ 2 p.m.

A retelling of the classic story of Alice in Wonderland. Join Alice as she journeys through the twists and turns of a strange place meeting classic characters such as the White Rabbit, Queen of Hearts and Cheshire Cat.

 

John Champe High School

Alice in Wonderland

November 17, 18 and 19 @ 7 p.m.

November 19 @ 2 p.m.

A retelling of the classic story of Alice in Wonderland. Join Alice as she journeys through the twists and turns of a strange place meeting classic characters such as the White Rabbit, Queen of Hearts and Cheshire Cat. This story is a classic coming of age story for all ages and a celebration of the 10-year anniversary of Champe and its first spring musical, Alice in Wonderland.

Potomac Falls High School

PUFFS                                           

November 18-20 @ 7 p.m.

For seven years a certain boy wizard went to a certain Wizard School and conquered evil. This, however, is not his story. This is the story of the Puffs… who just happened to be there, too. A tale for anyone who has never been destined to save the world.

 

Tuscarora High School

Lord of the Flies 

November 17, 18, 19 @ 7 p.m.

Lord of the Flies is a stage play adapted by Nigel Williams from the 1954 novel by Nobel Prize-winning English author William Golding. Both the novel and the play tell the disturbing tale of a group of British school boys stranded on an island and the tension caused by fear and power.

 

Belmont Ridge Middle School

December 2 and 3 @ 7 p.m.

A night of three original plays written by students from the 2021-2022 Exploratory Dramatics Class.

 

Rock Ridge High School

Big Fish: The Musical

December 1, December 2, December 3 @ 7 p.m.

December 3 @ 2 p.m.

Based on the celebrated novel by Daniel Wallace and the acclaimed film directed by Tim Burton, Big Fish tells the story of Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman who lives life to its fullest…and then some! Edward’s incredible, larger-than-life stories thrill everyone around him—most of all, his devoted wife Sandra. But their son Will, about to have a child of his own, is determined to find the truth behind his father’s epic tales.

 

River Bend Middle School

The Addams Family Young@Part

December 9, December 10 @ 7 p.m.

December 12 @ 2:15 p.m.

Celebrate the wackiness in every family with a Broadway musical adapted for middle school-age performers. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family whom her parents have never met. She confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before– keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.
