Academies of Loudoun Celebrates 747 Students

The Academies of Loudoun celebrated 747 graduates in the Class of 2022 at their Senior Celebration held Wednesday, June 8, at 7 p.m. at EagleBank Arena on the campus of George Mason University.

Scott Miller, President of the Loudoun Education Foundation and Director of the Virts Miller Family Foundation, served as the keynote speaker.

Academies graduates earned in excess of $12.4 million in scholarships. The graduating class also included six National Merit Scholars and seven students who received full-ride scholarships.

Academies of Loudoun students are heading to a variety of colleges, including:

  • 86 to the University of Virginia
  • 56 to George Mason University
  • 56 to Virginia Commonwealth University
  • 53 to Northern Virginia Community College 
  • 46 to Virginia Tech and
  • 10 to Georgia Tech.

School Board Chair Jeff Morse (Dulles District) and School Board member Brenda Sheridan (Sterling District) attended the ceremony. Deputy Superintendent Dr. Ashley Ellis and Chief of Staff Dr. Daniel Smith also took part in the ceremony.

Academies Principal Dr. Tinell Priddy said, “The Academies of Loudoun Class of 2022’s accomplishments, skills and innovation are a significant component of what makes our school community so unique. I look forward to seeing what this class of graduating seniors accomplishes. The future of STEM education is bright!”
