Academies of Loudoun Teams Qualify for International HOSA Competition

 

Health and medical sciences students from the Academies of Loudoun have qualified to compete at the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) International Leadership Conference in Nashville.

Their outstanding performance at the Virginia HOSA Leadership competition in March qualified them to participate in the competition with more than 2,000 students. Thirty-one of the 39 Academies of Loudoun students competing placed first, second or third in state in the following categories: Biomedical Debate, Healthy Lifestyle, Public Health, Prepared Speaking, Community Awareness, Medical Innovation, Health Education, Nutrition, Public Service Announcement, and Creative Problem Solving.

Biomedical Debate – Isabella Cofield, Olivia Marshall, Dean Turner, Ammara Wasiuddin

Community Awareness – Nadia Kamal, Ella Drennan, Sri Posani

Healthy Lifestyle – Abbie Nicholson

Public Health – Grayson Carnall, Amish Choudhary, Justin Lee, Saathvik Poluri

Health Education – Samantha (Sami) Caminiti, Beatrice (Bea) Maulfair, Heidi Tanudjaja, and Kaitlin Teale

Creative Problem Solving – Daniela Grados, Krisha Mathur, Sonia Sadani, Lydia Wong

Nutrition – Sofia Alexeenko

HOSA is an organization for students from middle school through college interested in careers in the health and medical field. Students from all over the world will gather in Nashville, from June 22 to 25. 

Since its inception in 1976, HOSA has grown steadily reaching over 260,000 members through 54 chartered HOSA Associations, American Samoa, Canada, China, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
