11 LCPS Schools Earn Gold Star SBE Certification

Eleven Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) DECA chapters earned Gold-level School- Based Enterprise (SBE) certification or recertification for their school stores.

DECA is an association of marketing students. A school-based enterprise is an entrepreneurial operation managed and operated by students. They are hands-on learning laboratories that reflect national curriculum standards in marketing, finance, hospitality or management.

For the certification process, SBE student managers and DECA members complete a written project showcasing how their school-based business adheres to select model business standards.

Recognition is provided for outstanding achievement at three levels: bronze, silver and gold. SBEs earning Gold-level Certification or Gold Recertification are eligible to participate in the exclusive SBE Academy and competition, held at the International Career Development Conference.

This year, 512 SBEs earned Gold-level certification or recertification.

The LCPS schools achieving this designation are:

  • Briar Woods High School
  • Broad Run High School
  • Dominion High School
  • Freedom High School
  • Independence High School
  • John Champe High School
  • Loudoun Valley High School
  • Potomac Falls High School
