School Board Agenda for August 11
The Loudoun County School Board will hold a virtual meeting at 4 p.m. Tuesday, August 11. All School Board members and staff representatives will participate electronically from remote locations. The LCPS Administrative Building will be closed, and no opportunities for public participation will be available there.
Live public comment will be accepted virtually and aired in real time during this meeting. Online and telephone registration will be open through 3 p.m. Tuesday (telephone registrations may be made between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Tuesday at 571-252-1030). PLEASE NOTE: The School Board Chair will call on everyone who is registered to speak. Due to the length of the agenda for the August 11 meeting, all speakers’ comments will be limited to 30 seconds. Please do not register to attend the meeting if you do not wish to speak. To watch the meeting, please view the live stream on the LCPS Webcast web page or on Comcast channel 18 and Verizon FIOS channel 43. This will help ensure School Board meetings are as efficient as possible while remote meetings are occurring.

The board will consider eight action item during the meeting: Fall 2020 School Board Meeting Calendar for an Elementary School Attendance Zone Change Process and Fiscal Year 2022 Capital Budgets; Request to name the Leesburg Annex Baseball Field the “Toby Atwell Field;” Indigenous People’s Day Proclamation; Supplemental Appropriation Request – County Reserve Release; Middleburg Community Charter School (MCCS) Reopening Plan for 2020-2021; Revision of Policy 5310, Special Education; Face Coverings Requirements; and Academies of Loudoun Admissions.
The agenda also contains eight information items. The information items include:
- Detailed Action Plan to Combat Systemic Racism.
- Equity Committee Charter and Membership Review.
- Fiscal Year 2022 Preliminary Fiscal Outlook.
- School Board Calendar for the Development of the Fiscal Year 2022 School Operating Budget.
- Restraint and Seclusion of Students Annual Report School Year 2019-20.
- Attendance Zone Change Process.
- COVID-19 Update on LCPS Continued Response.
- Access to Distance Learning for Students with No/Limited Internet Service.
The Loudoun County School Board believes that strong community engagement and outreach are important components of a successful school system, even while the COVID-19 crisis requires special arrangements to safely conduct business while implementing recommended preventative measures. The meeting will be available for public viewing through the live-stream telecast on LCPS.org, and live on Comcast channel 18 and Verizon FIOS channel 43.
