Current BEM-NJHS members - You must complete the required 10 hours of service by March 1st in order to remain in the National Junior Honor Society. Any service performed after July 2019 can count towards your hours. Service performed in June 2019 must be after the school year has ended (June 7th)
Service activities can be among the most rewarding experiences students can have as members. Many times, these activities can open a door to a new interest or passion. The places where a student volunteers does not have to be a formal program, but please Remember that activities like babysitting (paid or unpaid), pet walking (paid or unpaid), chores around the house(paid or unpaid) or general chores around the house (paid or unpaid) like cleaning, mowing the lawn etc. are not considered Service hours. Create Kindness cards - ongoing
Hello NJHS students and families,
This is an opportunity for you to earn NJHS volunteer service hours by creating Kindness cards. Kindness cards are motivational, inspirational cards to brighten up someone's day. We will distribute the completed cards throughout the school year to students and staff.
Students can create Kindness cards in exchange for volunteer service hours. PLEASE NOTE that 7 cards = 1 volunteer service hour and there is a limit of 3 hours per person for this. We have limited supplies for this project so if you are able to use your own cardstock to make your cards, that would be great.
There will not be any card-making sessions held at the school. This would be done on your own time.
Students, please take your time and do a nice job on these cards. If you have envelopes to fit your cards, please go ahead and decorate those as well but DO NOT SEAL the envelopes.
We will have a limited number of packets of cardstock available. Please see Mrs. Sharma if you need some materials.
If you have any questions regarding this project please ask Ms. Sharma at firstname.lastname@example.org or Ms. Ferguson at Susan.Ferguson@lcps.org. Thank you!

* Loudoun Volunteer Caregivers conducts a program for students ages 12-18 that offers volunteering opportunities, leadership skills, and the opportunity to grow relationships with the elderly and disabled in our community.
Their Student Caregiver program is being offered to public, private and home-schooled children ages 12-18 and enables students to volunteer in (a) group projects and (b) teams of 2 to 4 students with one vetted and trained adult volunteer (usually a parent or a teacher). These SC teams are then set up with either an individual care receiver who is seeking supportive services from LVC.
These services may include:
- Playing games
- Light housekeeping
- Yard work
- We have a puzzle club that meets once a month in Leesburg to do puzzles with the elderly, and we are looking to expand the area this year.
Please feel free to contact with questions or for any other information. You can visit their website at www.lvcaregivers.org
