  • The dedication of Lightridge High School was unique from its 94 predecessors.

On Thursday, June 3, Lightridge conducted the first “progressive” dedication in the 150-year history of Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS). The ceremony began in the gym, before moving to the main staircase in the foyer, the auditorium and the main entrance to the school for the traditional ribbon-cutting. Moving throughout the building made the ceremony pandemic-safe and gave the maximum number of students the opportunity to participate.

Principal Dr. Ryan Hitchman noted that the unusual dedication reflected a very unusual year for LCPS’ 17th high school, the only public high school in Virginia to open during the fall of 2020.
