Biography: Mr. Krywcun is excited to be part of Smart's Mill Middle School. He received his Bachelors of Science Degree from Buffalo State College with his certification in Technology Education. After spending several years in education and recently working as an engineer for 14 years, he is looking forward to an exciting 2020-2021 school year! This will be an even more exciting school year as we offer the new Technology of Robotics Designs VR software and upgraded robotics equipment. In Technology and Engineering Education whether we are learning in-person or remotely, I am constantly looking for ways to find topics and projects that will interest ALL students! I hope you have a great year...

    7th Grade Technology:
This program at Smart's Mill Middle School utilizes a modular laboratory that explores various facets of Technology. Students work at their own pace to Research, Challenge and Apply themselves to various topics that can be found below. We are in the process of going to a Project Lead The Way (PLTW) curriculum that will further improve this course. The optional (Personalized Learning) workstations offered are:

Engineering Towers Electricity Lights & Lasers Package Design
Home Makeover Computer Graphics & Animation Graphic Communications CNC Manufacturing
Weather Intelligent Homes eDesign (see below) Forces
Energy, Power & Mechanics Biotechnology Inventions & Innovations Future Fuels

Students in Technology Education will be exploring various areas of STEM all of which focus on the hands-on approach to learning...

Above you will find student testing of their "Lighter than Air" unit Hot Air Balloons.

8th Grade Technology of Robotic Design:  Students engage in the study of computers and microprocessors and their applications to manufacturing, transportation, and communication systems. Topics include computer equipment and operating systems, robotics, programming, control systems. And social/cultural impact of these technologies. Problem-solving activities challenge students to design, program, and interface devices with computer systems. Learning activities include robotics, computer-aided design, computer-aided manufacturing and design, and control of electromechanical devices.

Above you will find students working with their VEX components to complete a "SquareBOT".

    8th Grade Technology (Manufacturing):
This Technological & Manufacturing Systems Class is an elective that stresses problem-solving abilities and provides career awareness to students.  Our 8th grade program has a larger focus on project-based learning , with less time working in module workstations. Technology and Engineering Education overall utilizes STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering and Math principles throughout the curriculum. Units of study that are part of this challenging curriculum are Engineering, Electronics, MagLev Transportation, Aerospace, Robotics, Manufacturing, Tiny House Architecture and 3D Printing and Design.
