    Warren'
Welcome to 5th grade!  I am so excited about getting to know you and your child while working together as we navigate this last year of elementary school together!  My goal is to help develop your child into a life-long, responsible learner.

I begin my 26th year of teaching this year (so many siblings are graduating or already graduated), the last sixteen years in 5th grade.  Before that, I taught ELL for grades 3 – 5, a 4/5 combo class, and 4th grade here at Sugarland.  Prior to my time in Virginia, I taught in grades second and third as a classroom teacher, in both North Carolina and Arizona.  My undergraduate degree is in Elementary Education from Wingate University in North Carolina.  However, my love of learning extends beyond my teaching space and I acquired a Masters in Bilingual Multicultural Education with an emphasis in ESL through Northern Arizona University and a Masters in Administration from Shenandoah University.

My excitement for learning spills over into the activities I share with my students.  I incorporate life skills and social skills into all areas of my teaching, as I know I am helping to mold the next generation.  I expect each of my students to put forth the best effort to succeed and I am determined to figure out what motivates each one of them.  I stress organizational skills, responsibility, and self-advocacy, as I am not only teaching 5th grade content, but I am preparing my students for middle school and beyond.

My husband, Chris, and I spend our spare time with our middle schooler, Caleigh.  She truly amazes us each day and we love watching her become her own person.  She continues to work on her skills as a gymnast and volleyball player, finding new books to read, converse, and traveling to the National Parks.  We spent the summer with family, traveling to California to explore five new National Parks, and just hanging out together.  I enjoy reading, the great outdoors, any type of exercise, watching football, laughing, scrapbooking, taking pictures, hanging out with our dog Willow, and leaving plenty of time for family and friends.

I look forward to working with you and your child during this school year.  Please don’t hesitate to contact me via Class Dojo or email at jennifer.warren@lcps.org.  Let's remember to practice patience, flexibility, and grace with each other as we enter into the last year of elementary school.

Here's to a fabulous 5th grade year at Sugarland!
