My name is Joyce Schuler, and I’m excited to be part of the reading team at Sugarland Elementary School!

I grew up outside of Philadelphia in Levittown, Pennsylvania. Northern Virginia has been my home since 1990. I enjoy running, reading, “trying” to play golf, and spending time at the beach with my family. (Actually, any type of water will do.)

Teaching has always been my passion and has been my only career choice. My undergraduate degree is in Elementary Education from West Chester University, and I have a Master of Special Education from George Mason University. I am also a trained “Reading Recovery” teacher. I began my teaching career in Philadelphia at an oral school for children with hearing impairments. I taught at Dranesville Elementary in Fairfax County before coming to Sugarland Elementary in 2007.
