Meet Your Instructional Facilitator, Technology
A little about Mrs. Payne:
Mrs. Payne began her teaching career in 1998, after graduating from James Madison University with a B.S. in Psychology & Early Childhood Education. She moved to teach 2nd grade in Charlotte, N.C., for her first year. In 1999, Mrs. Payne moved back to Virginia and was hired as an inaugural staff member at Horizon Elementary; where she remained teaching 2nd grade until 2006 (known then as Ms. Walters).
Earning her Master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction, with an emphasis on Technology Integration, from George Mason University, Mrs. Payne took on the challenge of becoming a Technology Resource Teacher at Frances Hazel Reid Elementary School, in Leesburg. In 2010, Mrs. Payne achieved the accomplishment of becoming a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT). In 2011, Mrs. Payne returned to her home at Horizon to teach 3rd grade. An opportunity came about to return to her role as IFT, at Horizon, in 2013. With the support of the wonderful Horizon community, Mrs. Payne was happy to accept the new challenges.
She continues to enjoy a position where she is helping students and staff integrate the available technologies into teaching & learning!
