Welcome to Mrs. Young's Home Page2016-2017Welcome to Mrs.Young's Health and Physical Education homepage. I am very excited to begin my 11th year here at Seneca Ridge with so many Amazing students! My name is Lindsey Young and I am a graduate of George Mason University three times over. My first degree is a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing(2001), second degree is Bachelor's of Science in Education(2005) (Health and Physical Education), and I have my Master's in Education (2009)(Curriculum Development). I have enjoyed working for a Pediatrician in Vienna for over 18 years. I continue to do triage work on weekends and work in the office in the summer and over school vacations.
I use my experience and education as a Registered Nurse to teach my students the importance of staying healthy and being active both in school, at home and in the community. It is our goal as a department to instill the knowledge of what it takes to maintain a physically active lifestyle today and for a lifespan. I attended a Health and Physical Education institute at JMU this summer with other PE colleagues where I was inspired by many new activities that I look forward to bringing into my classroom this year!
My career as a teacher started at Belmont Ridge Middle School in April 2006 and I have found my home here at Seneca Ridge Middle since August of 2006. We are a team here at Seneca and I love to come to work everyday and teach your children! This year I will be teaching 6th and 8th grade only-feel free to contact me by email (listed below).
I have been married for 6 years and enjoy many busy days and weekends with our busy family of 5 kids that include 4 teens and a toddler. We have 2 sophomores in high school and 2 sophomores in college. Our children are very active with cross country, marching band, wrestling, golf, tennis, softball, swimming, basketball and crew. Our little one enjoys watching his older siblings and loves football and wrestling.
