  • About Panther Preschool

The PFHS Panther Preschool Program is a hands-on learning environment for high school students in grades 10-12. The program enables high school students to explore the possibility of a career in Early Childhood Education while enabling 16 preschoolers, ages 3 ½ - 5, to benefit from their first exposure to a classroom setting.

High school students are paired primarily one-on-one with your preschooler and will work with them each preschool day to enhance their kindergarten readiness skills. (We follow Loudoun County’s criteria for Kindergarten Readiness.  Go to LCPS Criteria for Kindergarten Readiness for more information.) In addition, high school students learn to develop quality lesson plans and curriculum for preschoolers and will assume the role of teacher for the day.  Each preschool day, your child will experience age-appropriate lessons in core subjects such as math, language arts, science, and social studies.  Each month, the preschoolers will explore a new theme such as the changing seasons, community helpers, sports, nutrition and wellness, and cultures around the world.

    Hours

The first day of preschool will be in early October and will run until May.  Panther Preschool will run from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. two days a week. Preschoolers will need to bring their own packed lunch on preschool days.

Please email Ms. Walls with any questions at lindsey.walls@lcps.org
