Mr. Tony Bauer is the Director of School Counseling at the Academies of Loudoun (VA). He graduated from Virginia Tech in 1981 with a BS in Marketing Education. He earned an MA in Human Resource Development and Training in 1988 and earned his MS in School Counseling at Marymount University in 2001.
Mr. Bauer is in his 17th year with Loudoun County Public Schools working in the student services arena. Prior to LCPS, he worked in the banking industry in the areas of systems support and training. Mr. Bauer’s work with high school students in his church is what led him to return to graduate school in 2000 to obtain his master’s degree in School Counseling.
Mr. Bauer began his counseling career at Loudoun County High School where he served as a School Counselor from 2002-2006. He then worked for 9 years as a Counselor and Director of School Counseling at Park View High School. Following PVHS, he worked in the Student Services Office at the LCPS Administration Building as the LCPS School Counseling Supervisor for two years. In 2017, Mr. Bauer joined the Academies team as a school counselor and was housed at the Academy of Engineering and Technology at Tuscarora High School.
Mr. Bauer has two children who both graduated from Loudoun County High School. His son Tony (VT 2010) was in the first graduating class at the Academy of Science and currently works for Virgin/Hyperloop as a tunneling engineer. His daughter Katy (Utah, 2016) just got married and works as an event planner in Park City, Utah. She and her husband are planning a move to Boise, Idaho. The current light of his life, his first grandchild Caroline, was born in December 2017.
Mr. Bauer is very excited about the opportunity to work continue his work here at the Academies of Loudoun in this new role and to be a part of the creativity, the motivation and the dreams of all students.
