    Food for Neighbors

Potomac Falls High School is partnering with Food For Neighbors to provide Thanksgiving Meals for students identified as struggling with hunger. FFN has a goal to provide 250 meals to local families. We can put together a complete meal for a family for only $50. It’s an ambitious goal – we’ll need to raise $12,500 to do it. But your donation, combined with those of friends and neighbors, will make it happen. We’re off to a great start with a few supporters already donating over $1,600!

With Thanksgiving quickly approaching, can you donate today and provide one or more meals to these families? How about while you’re reading this message? We have made donating incredibly fast and easy. It’ll take less time than it takes to read this message. You can even do it on your phone. Simply click here to donate with a credit or debit card (or PayPal).

Your gift is tax-deductible and you will receive a tax receipt from us within a few days of making your donation.

Thank you for helping Food For Neighbors provide Thanksgiving Meals to local families in need. We truly appreciate your generosity towards our local community.

Clothing Donation Drive Oct 1 - Nov 8

The Potomac Falls cluster of schools will be collecting gently used winter clothing during the month of October. The donation drive is an opportunity for our school to support those within our community that have a need.  We will accept all clothing that is clean and in like-new condition but are most interested in receiving seasonal clothes for winter.

The clothing collected will support a No-Sale Yard Sale that will be held at Potomac Falls High School on November 16th from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.

Before you donate please make sure that if you wrote your child’s name in the item, you have removed it. Also, please make sure that the clothing has been washed. If possible, bring your donations sorted by gender and size. Please bring your bagged donations to Potomac Falls HS and place in the donation boxes located in the lobby.

We will also accept gently used coats, jackets and mittens. The coats will be donated to the LINK Coat Drive.

    Message from the PTSO
Thank you to those who joined us for our Newks Restaurant Night!  Save the date for our November Restaurant Night at Choolah!  On November 21st!

Our second SAT practice test was a huge success!  30 students from around Loudoun county attended.  The next test is on November 23rd and several students are already registered. We are so thankful to Sandie Richmond who continues to keep this fantastic program running!

Our PTSO is thankful to our main office staff, admin team and especially Michaela Ottenberg for being so supportive and responsive as our new PTSO board in every way!  Thank you for supporting our efforts to reach out to our parents and teachers throughout this first quarter as it comes to a close very soon!

Our PTSO Executive Board thanks all of the parents and staff who become PFalls PTSO members already this year!  Did you know that joining the PTSO does not require that you attend a meeting or commit to volunteer hours?  On the contrary, each membership fee is a direct contribution to the programs that support our teachers and our school community. As of today, we have almost 150 members... 1/3 of those are our supportive PFalls teachers and staff!  If only 25% of our families supported our efforts, we would have 400 members!  Consider PTSO membership today, we commit to using our time and abilities for the benefit of ALL PFalls students. See the membership link below.

Our October SAT Prep Class is full! Registration is now closed. Many schools in the county are benefiting from this service. We are so thankful to have Jon Ackerman and Amy Trickett teaching this amazing program! There are two more prep classes scheduled in March and April.  Thank you Sandie Richmond for your continued commitment to providing this service for our students!
    THINGS TO REMEMBER:

    Message from the PTSO
Our PTSO Executive Board thanks all of the parents and staff who have joined already this year!

Remember to register your student for our next SAT practice test on October 19th!  There will be 3 more practice tests scheduled on 11/23/19, 2/29/20, and 4/18/20. The cost is only $15 and we have received lots of feedback that they are very helpful for students in practicing their pacing and conditions for taking the SATs! If you want to register for the practice test, please just follow this link: https://squareup.com/store/potomac-falls-ptso/

    Thanks for your support!

A Conversation about Substance Use for Parents and Teens
Substance Use Seminar - Thu., September 26
We invite teens and parents to a shared workshop experience. The workshop will begin with a powerful personal story of recovery from speaker Sam Lucania. From Sam’s website, “Sam Anthony is a person in long term recovery from substance use disorder, who uses his personal experiences with drugs, alcohol, depression, anxiety, and suicidal behavior to educate and motivate others. He has passionately shared his story with thousands of high school and college students, health care professionals, and government officials through motivational speaking, panel discussions, and personal testimonials. Sam’s message emphasizes awareness and encouragement.” Following Sam’s presentation, parents and teens will participate in small group discussions led by LCPS Student Assistance Specialists to learn how to navigate conversations with their loved ones about substance use and mental health.
