    Summer Assignments

Many courses - including math, AP and DE - have required summer work. Visit https://www.lcps.org/pfhs/summer to access the assignments. Here is a note from the math department about these assignments.

    Summer Credit Recovery

Summer Extension Credit Recovery is being offered in blocks from June 22 through July 26 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM for students who may not have passed a core class needed for graduation.

If your student is not passing a core course, they will be automatically pre-registered. Check Parent Vue or contact your student’s school counselor to confirm your student will attend or to have questions answered.

If you would like to reach out to me directly, the SECR Principal, please email me at Roberta.Rehm@lcps.org.

We look forward to partnering with you to make this an excellent opportunity for your student!

    From the Nurse

    Hello Potomac Falls Community,

The county sent a letter concerning new requirements for vaccinations for 12th grade students.  Students may have already received these vaccinations if they have not, please schedule your appointments. Please fill out this quick form (https://forms.gle/gNfd5XgisNpwpGnQ8).  If your child has received the Covid vaccination, please send a copy of their card once they have received both vaccinations.  It is not required right now but I can update their records to reflect that they have received it.  This is important to avoid the need to quarantine if your child is exposed to the virus.  If you have any questions, please contact me via my email, Amy.Hisel@lcps.org.

    Thank you,

    Claude Moore Community Builders (CMCB)

The 2021-2022 Claude Moore Community Builders (CMCB) program is an amazing volunteer opportunity for high school students. The CMCB program, run by Loudoun Youth, Inc., connects high school students with meaningful volunteer opportunities at local non-profit organizations. During the 10-month program, which runs annually from June-March, participants also attend trainings on topics such as communication, leadership, and collaboration. CMCB participants gain real-life experience and professional skills that will help you stand out among your peers when applying to colleges and/or employment.

After a year-long hiatus due to COVID-19, the CMCB program is back and gearing up to get teens out of their homes and into vital organizations that need their support! All rising 9th-12th grade Loudoun residents are eligible to apply for this program, which is free to all participants thanks to the generous support of the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation.

    Thank you,

    Amy Hisel, BSN, RN
    Potomac Falls High School

    Book of Playlists

The PFHS Cantate and Jazz choirs recently completed a "book of playlists" in which they collected music that spoke to them as they experienced different emotions.  The goal was to share our final product with our community in hopes that it might meet others as they experience those same emotions. Take a listen here: https://www.lcps.org/bookofplaylists

    Message from the PTSO
    Panther Family,

Two years ago, a group of 8 PFHS moms committed to join the PFHS PTSO executive board. Our primary intention was to be a forum that didn't focus on our own student's specific class, sport, art, or seasonal interest... but to be a bridge that connected our PFHS parents and Dr. Wolfe, the admin team, teachers and staff. We coined our approach: "CONTAGIOUS ENTHUSIASM!"

Then... COVID began! It has been a true privilege to serve with others who prioritized the wellbeing of our essential workers and students over these unexpected months. THANK YOU ALL for reinventing graduation, homecoming, back to school, the arts, sciences, sports, and student life overall, while continuing to help and support the Panthers who are in need!

A few of us are stepping down from the board and welcoming some new members this year. We are better Panther parents, for having seen up close and personally the sincere devotion of our principal, assistant principals, guidance team, office staff, custodians, cafe team and the most unique amazing humans who serve in anonymity year after year.  Locking arms with this caliber of servant leaders is a good cure for negativity!

We sincerely thank those in this Panther community who are too numerous to name for freely sharing your time, talents, and resources over and over again! THANK YOU!!!

More information can be found at loudounyouth.org.

2020-21 LCPS Stakeholder School Climate Survey

The 2020-21 LCPS School Climate Surveys will be administered in May 2021. The student survey will be administered to grades 3-5 and 9-12 during the school day beginning on May 20. Middle school students participated in the Virginia school climate survey in March and will not be asked to complete an LCPS survey this year. Students will complete the survey during advisory the week of May 24.

    Information for Athletes

Tryouts are challenging during a typical year, but even more during a COVID-19 year.  Here are just a few reminders.

    1. All athletes must perform a daily health screening and temperature check before each practice and competition

    3. Shared equipment must be disinfected and sanitized at the end of every practice or competition.

    4. No Team room usage

    5. Locker rooms may be used, but no more than 8 individuals in Locker Room 1 and no more than 6 individuals in locker room 2.

    6. Athletes are encouraged to bring their bottle of hand sanitizer and use it frequently.  Schools may provide a bottle of hand sanitizer for teams as well.

    7. Coaches are required to wear a mask throughout the entire practice.

2020-21 LCPS Stakeholder School Climate Survey

The 2020-21 LCPS School Climate Surveys will be administered in May 2021. The staff and family surveys will begin on May 17 and the student survey will begin May 20. LCPS will email a one-time use link to families so that they can respond once per child enrolled to provide feedback about their child's experience in the school. School-based staff members will receive a one-time use survey link by email.

The student survey will be administered to grades 3-5 and 9-12 during the school day beginning on May 20. Middle school students participated in the Virginia school climate survey in March and will not be asked to complete an LCPS survey this year. Students will complete the survey during advisory the week of May 24.

Sample surveys are available on the Stakeholder Survey website at https://www.lcps.org/Page/189350

Parents/guardians who would like to opt their child out of the survey should fill out this form by May 17.

A note from the Attendance office…

Please review the following information regarding absences, tardies, and early dismissals. Even in the virtual learning environment, the attendance office needs to know these instances for accurate attendance.

    *Hybrid Students:
Any students who are signed up for hybrid MUST attend school in person on their assigned days, or they will be counted as absent, even if they attend virtually. The only exception is for students who are sick and have contacted the attendance office for special, temporary, permission.

*Tardies: If a student is going to be late to school/virtual learning due to an appointment at the doctors, orthodontist, dentist, court, or any other reason, please notify us via Parent VUE, Permission Click, or email. Please make sure to submit or email Tanja.Brandt@lcps.org a copy of medical/dental notes or any other documentation from appointments, etc.

*Please note: Students are required to log in to Advisory, daily. If they do not attend Advisory...they are considered tardy to school and will be marked as such. Students are also required to check in with their Study Hall/Core class for attendance. They will be marked absent in any classes they do not attend/log in to and participate in.

*Absences: If a student is going to be absent from school for the day or longer, please notify the attendance office via Parent VUE, Permission Click, email, or by calling the absentee line at 571-434-3202. The absentee line is for absences only. Please submit or email Tanja.Brandt@lcps.org with medical/dental notes or any other documentation.

*Early Dismissals: Due to COVID mitigation strategies and for the safety of all, you CANNOT come into the school building to sign out your student for early dismissals. You can however request an early dismissal via Parent VUE, Permission Click, or by sending Tanja.Brandt@lcps.org an email. Make sure when you submit a request, that you enter the time that student needs to dismiss. If your student is in hybrid and in the building on a particular day they need to dismiss...please be sure to submit an early dismissal request at least 30 minutes in advance. The cutoff time for early dismissal requests is 3:30pm for in-person learning students (when they are in-person).

Our Attendance page, will provide you with Parent VUE instructions for submitting absences, tardies, and early dismissals...and has the Permission Click links for submissions as an alternative to using Parent VUE.

If a student is registered for hybrid but wishes to switch to distance learning, please contact their guidance counselor.

    Thank You! 😊
