Hi! I'm Kathy Gunderson, and I am a part of the amazing special education resource team at Sycolin Creek Elementary School. This is my seventh year at Sycolin Creek. Before joining Sycolin Creek, I taught at Sully Elementary, Discovery Elementary, and Sterling Elementary. I am looking forward to another fantastic year filled with learning, exploration, growth, and fun!
I have twenty-six years of teaching experience. Wow, that's hard to believe! I guess that when you are passionate about your job, the time just flies by. I started my career with a Bachelor's degree from the College of William and Mary. I then taught kindergarten, first, and second grade before going back to school for a Master's degree in special education from San Diego State University.
My family includes my husband, Chris, a retired Naval officer, and my grown children, Erin and Kyle. Besides Virginia, I have lived in Maryland, California, Germany, and Spain. Traveling and learning about different cultures are definitely my favorite hobbies.
For now, I'm looking forward to a super year with all of the Sycolin Creek Salamanders!
