    Our school’s parent liaisons are

    Helen Chang-Lin and Judy Schmid

Helen and Judy started at Potomac Falls HS with the 2015-16 school year, and have been working closely with our families and staff to provide resources and assistance to our students and their families, allowing the students to better focus on their academic needs.  Our mission is to help empower families to secure the resources they need, so their students can succeed at Potomac Falls High School.

Previous to joining PFHS, they were parent liaisons at Potowmack Elementary for over a decade with more than 27 years of combined experience helping Loudoun County public school families.  Some of the programs the Parent Liaisons run at our school include Backpack weekend meals and food assistance, clothing and coats for both cold and warm weather, medical/dental/optical assistance, holiday meals, school supplies, and more.

In addition, they help bring speakers and presentations to our school relating to topics of interest to our school community, and hold parent info nights to provide updated school information to our ELL population.  Links to information that may be of interest to our community can be found at the bottom of this page, and on the school's main webpage.

Mrs. Chang-Lin has 2 children who have gone through LCPS schools.  Her eldest was working based in Pittsburgh, PA, after graduating from Carnegie Mellon University with a double major in Chemical Engineering, and Engineering and Public Policy. She returned this year to grad school for her MBA at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI.  Helen's youngest graduated from Cornell University majoring in Information Science in the engineering department in May 2019 and is now working in the San Francisco area with a software company.

Mrs. Schmid has 3 children with her youngest a junior at Virginia Tech.  Her oldest daughter is currently working with students in the Washington, DC area, having received her certification in speak therapy this year.  Her middle daughter graduated in May from the University of Virginia, and is currently working in Harrisburg, PA with the Episcopal Service Corp council of churches dealing with prison reform.

They can be reached via email at Helen.Chang@lcps.org or Judy.Schmid@lcps.org, or by calling our school at 571-434-3200.  They look forward to getting to know more families throughout the year.

  • We help students and families with weekend meal backpack bags that contain food for 2 breakfasts, lunch and dinners.  If your student can use these bags, please complete the attached waiver and send in to the attention of the Parent Liaisons.  A hall pass will be given to your student each week on Thursday, to come to our office to pick up their bag.

We strive to ensure each student picks up their bags before the end of the week, and will resend a pass on Friday for those who were absent on Thursday.  We are not responsible for students who miss picking up their bags.  We also cannot accommodate specific dietary needs.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
