PTA Volunteer Opportunities 2018-2019
Partner with DTES for a better future for our children!
volunteer Research shows that students with parents who are involved in their school tend to have fewer behavioral problems and better academic performance  These students are more likely to complete secondary school than students whose parents are not involved in their school. Their grades are higher, their test scores rise, and their self-esteem grows.

We're not looking for perfection. Everyone has something to offer. Find what you like, when you like it, and do it for the kids. The gift of your time is priceless and appreciated.
There are many ways to get involved at Dominion Trail, from a one-time event to an ongoing volunteer role. Take a moment to learn more about the different options below and indicate your interest HERE
Below is a list of some of our volunteer opportunities for this year.

Staff Appreciation Committee (Year long, but most work during January & February) – Work with committee chair Kirsten Bates to show the DTES staff how much we appreciate their hard work! This committee will decide the theme, decorations, and events for Staff Appreciation Week (March 4th-8th 2019).  Events typically include a staff breakfast, staff lunch, staff sweet /coffee cart and other various treats throughout the week.  The committee will also have to collaborate with the classroom parents to coordinate classroom events for the week.
Monster Mash Committee (September & October) – Looking for a few people to plan with Michelle Plus for one of the favorite events at DTES. They will need to make fliers and take pre-orders for this event. We need people to decorate, take tickets, plan some Halloween activities for the kids, line up a DJ and much more. Grab a few friends and tackle this event together.
Holiday Shoppe Coordinators & Committee – Committee will assist the coordinators.  Advertise event in school and the community:
*Silent Auction - Solicit monetary, material, and experience donations from local businesses, Holiday Shoppe vendors, and DTES Staff to be used as prizes in the Silent Auction.
Bingo Night Committee – Volunteers need to make fliers for the event, take pre-orders, set volunteers for bake sale, buy prizes for the Bingo winners, buy bingo supplies, coordinate volunteers for set up and clean up and much more. This event needs a lot of helpers. So if you can do a little or a lot this is great event to get involved with.
Talent Show Committee– Volunteer needs to inform school about tryouts and run practices. Gather music from the performers, make program, help with decorations, set up and take down, advertising the event, coordinating the MC’s for the night of the talent show, get spotlight for the night of the event. This a great event that shows all the wonderful talent we have in our school.
End of the Year Picnic Committee- Help plan the end of the year celebration. Coordinate vendors to come and share their summer camps. Set up games and get food donations for this celebration.

Spirit Wear Committee (Year long) – Secure a Spirit Wear vendor, choose items to sell, organize Spirit Wear drive twice per year, take and fill orders, and track inventory. During events, set up and man Spirit Wear tables.  Square training will be provided.  This is a wonderful way to keep the Husky spirit up!
