Welcome!  I'm excited to begin my third year teaching second grade here at Countryside.  This will be a great year for your child as you watch them become more independent and expand their reading and writing skills.  Some of the highlights of our year will include learning about Native Americans, Ancient Egypt & Ancient China, Money, Economics and Life Cycles.
My background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Boston University and a Master’s degree in Elementary Education from Old Dominion University.  I've lived here in Virginia for 11 years now but am originally from New Hampshire (so I'm still loyal to the Patriots & Red Sox!)  When I'm not busy at school, I am usually taking care of my 3 wonderful boys.  My two oldest (14 year old twins) will be in 9th grade this year, and my youngest (8 years old) will be in 3rd grade this year.

I look forward to helping your child succeed by providing a warm, nurturing environment with a variety of opportunities to help him/her expand their love of learning.  I believe that creating a good partnership with parents can only benefit a child’s educational experience, so I encourage you to email me (colleen.taylor@lcps.org) or call me (571-434-3250) with any questions you may have or to find out how you can help in our classroom.

    Thank you!

    Colleen Taylor
