DO NOT MOURN THE MISTAKE, CELEBRATE THE RISK TAKEN!
Welcome to 5th Grade at Rosa Lee Carter Elementary! We are so excited to be working with your child during his or her last year of elementary school. This will be an exciting year of growth, exploration, and independence as your child develops the skills needed to be a self-sufficient, successful learner.
Work habits, study habits, organizational skills, and taking risks are critical to academic achievement. As a team, we work with students to develop and strengthen these skills to ensure each child’s success. All fifth graders should strive to be ready to take risks in their learning by trying new things and failing! We do not mourn mistakes, we celebrate the risks they took! At home, ask your child, "What risks did you take today?"
As the oldest students in the building, fifth graders set the standard for behavioral excellence and are our school’s role models. We look to our fifth graders to demonstrate respect for self, others and property. Fifth graders are also positive and considerate, treating others as they would want to be treated.
Fifth grade promises to be a fun and challenging year for your child. Your child will develop more independence along with greater responsibilities in preparation for his or her transition to middle school. We look forward to meeting you and working with your child this school year. Together, we can make a big difference. Thank you for entrusting us with your child’s academic, social, and emotional development this year!
Sincerely,The Fifth Grade Team
