• Welcome to Ms. Kulak's Second Grade

    Welcome to Ms. Kulak’s Class!

    Dear Parents!

I am so happy to be working with your child this 2022-2023 school year!  Second grade is a time when your child will experience many new things in school. During second grade, we will be learning literature and language skills that require practice at home and school. Our focus will expand their fluency and comprehension skills and begin to develop our writing around both old and new poems and stories.  Your child will spend time collaborating with classmates solving mathematical problems from both the textbook and real world thinking and application of mathematics. This year, your child will also be reviewing 1st grade skills in geography and history and broadening their understanding into 2ndgrade topics.  Your child will build their scientific learning and use scientific thinking when we do some fun science experiments!  Your child’s learning skills will include lots of practice in the 5 C’s.  These 21st century learning skills are collaboration, contribution, creativity, creator, and critical thinking  we will use throughout the year’s topics of learning.  I know your child will learn many new things this year, and it will be my privilege to teach them in our 2nd grade classroom!

I am so proud to say that I am part of the Sycolin Creek Teaching Staff and have been since it opened several years ago.  I feel that my engaging teaching style represents how wonderful I feel about working at Sycolin Creek with our wonderful and supportive staff.  My background includes a Bachelor’s in Psychology, and a Master’s in Education.  I am planning on making this 2022-2023 school year a great one for your children!
