Michael Murphy holds a Master of Music Degree in Guitar Performance from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Bachelor of Music Education Degree from Norfolk State University.  He is currently a candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Shenandoah University's Conservatory of Music.  Mr. Murphy has been active as a performer and teacher for over twenty years.  He is a founding member of the Cavalier Consort and he has performed with Capriole, Governor's Musick of Colonial Williamsburg, and the Norfolk Chamber Consort.  Mr. Murphy has also appeared on the concert seasons of the Richmond Guitar Society and the Tidewater Guitar Society.  He has taught for Virginia Commonwealth University, Chowan College, Old Dominion University and he is proud to be a member of the music faculty of Loudoun County Public Schools.
