Mr. Matthew Harbert
Welcome to Rolling Ridge! I have been at Rolling Ridge since 2010, starting my journey as a Teaching Assistant, then teaching 2nd and 3rd grade for 4 years each. I am excited to be continuing my role of Instructional Facilitator of Technology, where I work with teachers and students to find innovative, effective uses for technology and pretty much any way we can teach and learn together. I am a big believer in Deeper Learning, providing all students (adults and children) with the freedom to choose their own path, pace, and topics to expand and better their world.
I graduated from Oberlin College in Ohio with my Masters degree in Early Childhood Education in 2010. I am originally from a small town in northern Indiana. I met my wife, Mrs. Harbert while teaching here at Rolling Ridge. We now have a 5 and half year old son, Rowan, who will be attending Rolling Ridge soon, and a 3 and a half year old son, Gavin!
My job is mostly working with teachers as a coach and consultant to help them integrate technology into their instruction and make shifts in their planning and instruction to best prepare our students for their future lives.
If you ever have any questions about my role, what's happening at Rolling Ridge, or just want to bounce some ideas around, please feel free to reach out to me here at Rolling Ridge by calling 571-721-0453, emailing me at matthew.harbert@lcps.org, scheduling an appointment with me on the calendar below, or Tweeting me at mattharbert21 on Twitter.
