Potowmack Elementary Technology TeamIn Loudoun County Schools, technology is an integrated skill and activity. Unlike "special" content areas such as music, physical education, and art; computer activities are intended to be integrated with other content areas rather than function as a stand-alone discipline. Individual teachers are responsible for content integration and technology rich lessons, teaching Virginia's Technology SOLs. The Instructional Facilitator of Technology (IFT) is available to assist teachers with lesson research, digital integration, planning and delivery.
As our society becomes ever dependent on technology, our goal is to model appropriate uses of technology to complete tasks across the curriculum in language arts, math, science, social studies and other disciplines. This year, so far, Dr. Copeland is Potowmack's "Common Sense Media Digitally Certified Educator"; working with students on effective, safe and appropriate use of digital media. Because of their dedication and hard work, Potowmack Elementary has become a "Common Sense Media Digitally Certified School". We are dedicated to teach digital literacy and citizenship to our students. Our hope is to increase our certified teachers each year, and continue our excellence each academic year.
