Coach Koscinski
Coach Koscinski (a.k.a. Coach K) started teaching Physical Education in 2000 at Herbert Hooever Elementary School (Town of Tonawanda, NY) and has been at Newton-Lee Elementary School since the school opened in 2005. Coach K spent two years as an Athletic Director at a grade 7-12 school in a rural town in Vermont prior to swithcing over to teaching Physical Education.
Coach Koscinski holds a degree in Sports Management from Springfield College, a degree in Physical Education from the State University of New York at Brockport, and a Master's degree in Education from Canisius College.
Coach Koscinski is excited to continue making the best P.E. program at Newton-Lee and to help students discover their abilities, develop confidence and to enjoy being active. Some of the exciting programs and activities Coach K has organized at Newton-Lee (along with his previous teaching partner, Mrs. Nemish, and now Mr. MacMillin) include:* Family AcTion and LIM Lighthouse Teams* First ever nationwide Virtual Field Day 2020* Watch Dog D.U.D.E.S. program launch 2020 (we will be back!)* Field Day Arcade 2019 & Field Day Hut 2018* One to the World Jump Rope for Heart Event in 2015-2018 featuring 5th Graders as the Teachers* One to the World Staff Development for Elementary PE teachers* 3 exciting Olympic Themed Field Days (2008 Beijing Games, 2012 Royal Games, 2016 Rio Carnivale)* 4 Olympic Themed Ceremonies / Student Performances (2006, 2008, 2010, 2016)* Teamed with Music to develop an annual Music and PE show from 2008 to 2019* Annual Jump Rope for Heart Event started in 2006* N.L.E. After School Enrichment ProgramIn addition to his duties at Newton-Lee, "Coach K" will be leading the Riverside Rams Boys' Basketball Program. The Rams qualified for the VA 5A State Tourney in 2019 & 2020. The 2019 Rams won District & Region Championships while the injury riddled 2020 squad overachieved with a Region Runner-up finish. Coach Koscinski has received four Coach of the Year Honors (Dulles District 2010; FCA C.O.Y. 2014; Dulles Distict 2019; Region 4C 2019). Coach K is excited to have the priviledge to coach former NLE Explorers at RVHS. Coach K has also served as the Boys' Varsity Basketball Coach at Park View High School and as an Assistant Coach at Briar Woods & Stone Bridge High Schools. In 2017, Coach K helped found the East Coast Hoopers Basketball Club which serves players in Grades 3-11.Coach K’s favorite sports teams include the Kansas Jayhawks, UNC Tarheels, Boston Celtics, Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.
