    Welcome to the

      Mountain View Elementary Library

All students access and use information tools for age and grade-appropriate tasks.

The mission of the school library program is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information so as to empower them to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information.

(The following vision and mission statements are taken directly from the LCPS Elementary Library Program Guide.)

The library is open everyday from 7:30-3:00.  Our library media program utilizes a fixed schedule where all students visit the library with their class every week and one flex day per week where classes can come in and use the library space to meet their needs. In addition, students are encouraged to visit the library as needed to utilize print and online resources.  We are happy to assist individuals or small groups of students with their work throughout the school day.

The library has much to offer students, teachers and parents.  Many programs and activities are available in the library.  The Chat 'N Chew Program, Birthday Book Club, Maker Space, Reading Patch Club, Family Literacy Night, Virginia Reader's Choice , book fairs and author visits are just a few of the programs available.  Please check out this site or the Mountain View Newsletter for additional information and updates on all of our programs.
