I am originally from Newport News, VA and I worked in Newport News Public Schools for 13 years as a Classroom Teacher, Reading Recovery Teacher®, Reading Specialist, Adult Education GED and ESL Teacher, Adult Education State Trainer for the VALRC, Staff Trainer, Curriculum Writer, and Administrator. For 3 years, I served as the Director of K-12 Reading, ELA, & Community Outreach for Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public Schools in Elizabeth City, NC.
I’ve earned degrees from North Carolina Central University (B.A.), The College of William & Mary (M.A.), and The George Washington University (Ed.S.) in Elementary Education, Reading, and Administration and Supervision, respectively.
I am married to Rondell Brooks, Deputy Sheriff for Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office. We live here in Sterling with two miniature dachshunds named Rico and Shala and a beautiful daughter named Kaissel.
