Mrs. Casey Sorensoncasey.sorenson@lcps.orgDescription: Chick-fil-A Leader Academy™ is a national high school leadership program focused on IMPACT THROUGH ACTION. The world needs more leaders who impact their communities, and we believe high school students are the answer! At Broad Run, for the 2021-22 School Year, the Leader Academy runs through Mrs. Sorenson's 2nd Block Class, Project Management & Leadership. It's a part of our curriculum and provides hands-on, real-life, leadership and project management experiences. We partner with our local Chick-fil-A owner and operator (Mr. Brian Summers, Ryan Park) on implementing various service projects throughout the school year.
Our Approach: Engage, Expose, and Equip Engage We engage students where they are with what interests them. Through a combination of inspiring storytelling and technology, we create compelling ways for students to re-imagine leadership and what is possible. Expose We introduce students to new and unique ideas and insights.
Positive stories of impact are all around us. We bring these stories to light through monthly Leader Labs that highlight inspirational and informational ways to make a difference. Equip We equip students with tangible tools for their leadership journey. Ideas demand action, and we know our students have the ability to change the world.
Our approach helps put students’ ideas into practice to positively impact their local communities. Our monthly Leader Labs will focus on the following: Gratitude, Servant Leadership, Teamwork, Innovation, Communication, & Impact. Our Leader Academy implements the following activities during the school year: A Kick-Off, A Big Thank You, Do Good December, and an IMPACT Project.
Meet Times: Our meetings, which are called Leader Labs, take place during Mrs. Sorenson's 2nd Block Project Management & Leadership Class.
