Welcome to Leesburg Elementary School! Leesburg Elementary was built in 1980 and serves slightly less than 600 students. It benefits from an established, experienced teaching staff which is committed to working closely with parents and members of the community. This close relationship between the school and community has developed over many years.
Leesburg Elementary School has always been a school where parents have been actively involved. Over the years, the school has been supported by thousands of parent volunteer hours. The school benefits from an active Parent Teacher Organization which sponsors activities for students throughout the school year.
In 2005,the U.S. Virginia Department of Education as a candidate for No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon Schools Program for 2005. Leesburg Elementary is serving as one of Virginia's seven nominees for this program. The Blue Ribbon Schools Program was established in 1982 to spotlight America's most successful schools. The program was modified in 2003 to emphasize the goals of No Child Left Behind. To be nominated as a potential participant in Blue Ribbon Schools Program, a school must either make significant progress in closing the achievement gap or demonstrate that its students are achieving at the highest levels.
