                         Beth Andres, M.Ed.
                        Reading Specialist & Literacy Coach

    Ms. Andres is currently in her twenty-eighth year of teaching.  2022-2023 will bring Ms. Andres as a reading specialist in LCPS for 23 years. Prior to coming to LCPS, Ms. Andres, a Pittsburgh native, taught Pre-K at Shenandoah University and was a Title I teacher in Warren County, VA.  

     

    Ms. Andres holds a B.S. Degree in Elementary Education, from IUP and a Master’s Degree in Education as a Reading Specialist, from Shenandoah University. Ms. Andres also holds Reading Recovery Certification from George Mason University, working on completing her ELL Certification, has attended Columbia University's Teacher College for training in Reader's Workshop with Lucy Calkins, and most recently has been certified in Ortin-Gillingham, earning graduate credits from Adams University.

     

    Currently, Ms. Andres is a Literacy Coach/Trainer and responsible for training teachers in grades K-5 in LCPS reading and writing core curriculums,  Lucy Calkins Reader's Workshop and Writing Workshop, Word Study, and reading assessments. Ms. Andres co-teaches with grades K-5 classroom teachers to implement Reader's Workshop. In addition to this role, she also implements Reading Resource Literacy groups and strategy groups. Ms. Andres continues taking graduate classes to stay current in the educational field.

     

    When not teaching, Ms. Andres enjoys spending quality time with her 4 children, and her Westie-Poo.  She also enjoys spending time visiting family, reading, cooking, boating and swimming at Deep Creek Lake, and, of course, her Starbucks coffee runs.
