My name is Mary Dyer, and I am thrilled to be a part of our First Grade team at Cool Spring. My master’s degree is in Special Education from James Madison University; my undergraduate degree in is early education. My teaching experience includes kindergarten through third grade, in addition to fourth and fifth grade resource students. After grad school, I was offered a position with the Department of Defense Dependent Schools, and taught in Germany for six years. I loved teaching in a foreign country; the opportunity to work among so many cultures was an experience that I treasure.
I strive to create a warm, calm, and safe environment in which to challenge your first grader. I love reading all kinds of literature, therefore, I want your child to develop a love for reading and enjoy learning as much as I do. We will work as a team to help your child go beyond their potential to be successful and confident. Most of all, I want your child to be happy and enjoy coming to school each day.
My husband and I have two really great children; they both received an excellent education from Loudoun schools. My daughter, Lauren, and her husband Ted, celebrated their seceond anniversary this past June. My son, Andrew, is a recent VT graduate, and is a now a CPA. He and his wife, Elizabeth, were married last August in Middleburg. Fall is one of my favorite seasons and truly beautiful in Loudoun. You can find me hiking, running and visiting the local farmer's markets on weekends.
I look forward to teaching your child this year! First grade is a big transition year; so many new discoveries and always lots of excitement. Please feel free to schedule a conference if you have any questions regarding our program. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org
